  1. Overview

Introduction

Veros is building the only identity infrastructure for a world that AI can’t fake. With just a smartphone camera, Veros authenticates users through palm recognition and liveness signals—no extra hardware, no friction. Backed by over a decade of biometric research and development and 28 million+ scans, it’s the only proven solution of its kind.

Designed for global scale—with crypto users in mind—Veros powers Proof of Personhood, KYC, and next-gen replacements for OTPs, CAPTCHAs, and Google Authenticator. It’s privacy-first, spoof-resistant, and delivers precision 10x greater than Face ID—built for a future where proving you're real is everything.

Market Problem + Broken Solutions

All authentication methods available today face privacy, security, and usability challenges.

  • AI-generated bots, deep fakes, and automated fraud are increasing, yet existing solutions fail to address these threats.

  • Traditional authentication methods such as OTPs and CAPTCHAs are vulnerable to phishing and hacking.

  • Face recognition, while convenient, raises surveillance concerns and is susceptible to spoofing.

  • Fingerprint and iris scanning require specialized hardware, limiting accessibility and scalability.

Introducing Veros

Veros solves these problems by combining liveness detection with contactless palmprint recognition, eliminating the need for additional hardware while ensuring a high level of security.

  • The product offering will be further strengthened with on-chain KYC verification, making it applicable for wallet protection, sybil/bot attack prevention, and fraud mitigation.

  • Veros provides a decentralized identity framework that verifies users without compromising privacy.

What is Veros?

Unlike other biometric systems, Veros processes palm prints locally on a user’s device, ensuring encryption and security.

  • The system is SOC 2 certified for privacy and data protection, and iBeta certified for accuracy.

  • The patented technology functions reliably across different types of devices, browsers, skin tones, and lighting conditions, making Veros highly adaptable.

Why Veros?

Palmprint recognition offers significant advantages over other biometric methods.

  • Veros is ten times more accurate than facial recognition, including Apple Face ID.

  • Palm Prints remain unchanged throughout a person’s lifetime and are highly distinct, even among identical twins.

  • Unlike facial recognition, which can be compromised using publicly available images, Veros operates independently of external data sources.

  • Veros's technology is trusted by companies such as Mastercard, Epson, Sony Life, Qualcomm, and NCR.

  • With over a decade of experience in machine learning and biometrics, Veros has developed the world’s largest annotated palm database and holds more than ten patents in biometric security.

How Does it Work?

Veros captures palm prints from the surface of the skin using any camera.

  • The scan is processed locally on the user's device, encrypted, and then matched for identity and uniqueness.

  • A liveness detection is also performed to verify the user’s authenticity. The palmprint recognition system operates with a single palm FAR* of 1 in 10 million (10⁻⁷) and is a pure software solution that functions on any device with a camera.

  • Its accuracy has been verified using public datasets, achieving an FRR* of less than 1.5 percent (0.015).

  • This FAR is world class, recording 10 times better than the reported FARs of Apple Face ID and WorldCoin Orb, both of which rely on specialized hardware.

  • While the FAR and FRR reported show the performance of Veros’ palmprint matching algorithm from a single palm scan, it can be enhanced to meet the stringent requirements for distinguishing everyone on Earth (global population of 8.1 billion).

  • A satisfactory FAR should be significantly lower than 1 in 8.1 billion.

  • To further improve accuracy, Veros can adopt two techniques during user registration:

  1. Taking multiple scans of each palm, e.g., 5 times

  2. Scanning both left and right palms. With these improvements, the accuracy is increased to a FAR of 10^-14 and an FRR of 10^-9, a level that is sufficient to guarantee uniqueness even for global deployment.

* False Acceptance Rate (FAR): The likelihood of a false match given two biometric samples from different individuals.

* False Rejection Rate (FRR): The likelihood of a false non-match given two biometric samples from the same individual.

Veros vs. Other Biometrics

Veros outperforms traditional biometric methods in accuracy, security, scalability, and privacy.

  • Fingerprint recognition, while widely used, has limitations due to wear, duplication risks, and hardware dependencies.

  • Facial recognition is vulnerable to spoofing, affected by environmental factors, and linked to surveillance concerns.

  • Iris scanning, though accurate, requires costly specialized cameras, making it difficult to scale.

  • DNA-based authentication, while secure, is impractical due to processing costs and privacy risks. Comparatively, palmprint recognition technology is ten times more accurate than face and iris recognition.

  • Unlike fingerprints and facial data, full palmprints are rarely left behind, significantly reducing security risks.

  • Veros also operates on any smartphone without requiring specialized hardware, enabling widespread adoption. Additionally, it ensures a high level of privacy by not linking biometric data to personal identification.

Use Cases

Veros provides a unified biometric solution that enhances security and simplifies authentication across key digital interactions.

  • Securing digital assets often requires hardware wallets, OTPs, or 2FA methods, adding complexity for crypto users.

  • Veros simplifies this with palmprint authentication, enabling secure wallet access, transaction approvals, and exchange logins without extra devices or codes.

  • Veros strengthens identity verification through KYC processes and prevents Sybil attacks with a palmprint-based ID system, ensuring unique, verifiable identities without reliance on outdated CAPTCHA mechanisms.

    • This enhances security for activities such as airdrops and data protection.

  • With Veros Pay, payments become faster and more seamless. Users can link their palm to a credit card or crypto wallet for instant transactions.

    • This eliminates friction at checkout in both physical and online stores.

  • Online authentication often relies on Google or Facebook sign-in or 2FA apps like Google Authenticator, adding complexity for users.

  • Veros Sign-in offers a secure biometric alternative to social logins, while Veros Authenticator provides a palmprint-based 2FA solution that replaces traditional one-time codes.

By integrating Veros in these critical areas, users gain a more secure, streamlined experience in managing digital assets, verifying identities, making payments, and accessing online services.
